Grassland's Own Katie Allen Crowned 2013 West Point Senior Miss Rodeo Queen
Katie Allen, age 15 from Madison, AL was crowned the 2013 West Point Senior Miss Rodeo Queen at Cullman's Agribition Center in Cullman, AL on Saturday March 9, 2013. Katie is the daughter of Mr. Rob Allen and Mrs. Jaida Allen. Katie attends Bob Jones High School in Madison, AL where she is an honor student and focuses on her academics and personal achievement.

Katie's ambition for competing in rodeo pageants sparked earlier this year just prior to beginning  lessons with Amanda Strickland at Grassland Ranch. Katie had taken lessons with Ms. Lisa Musto at the ranch for 2 years before taking a break during her transition to high school.

Katie attended a clinic at the Sherrif's Rodeo Arena earlier this year where she learned a lot about the requirements and judging methods of a rodeo pageant. Her goal was to prepare herself for the 2013 Limestone Miss Rodeo Pageant in April when she met Mrs. Charlotte Adcock and her daughter Maddie.

Mrs. Adcock quickly befriended Katie and her mother Jaida at the clinic and encouraged them to compete in the rodeo pageant in Cullman. Katie and her mother were hesitant at first because they were worried they weren't prepared for competition level. With a little more encouragement from Mrs. Adcock Katie entered the pageant and competed in horsemanship aboard a great mount courtesy of Mrs. Adcock.

After a long day of waiting for the results to be announced during intermission of the rodeo Katie stood in the midst of 5 other contenders as 2nd runner up and 1st runner up were announced. At this point Mrs. Allen stated that she didn't think Katie had won anything until the announcer deepened his voice, rumbled the year and title "2013 West Point Miss Rodeo Queen" Katie Allen.

Congratulation to Katie for her achievements. We are all proud of you at Grassland Ranch.
